The MacRobert
Macrobert is set amidst the beautiful parkland of the University of Stirling and offers a year round programme of arts activity including cinema to suit all ages. T he MacRobert has established itself as the premier children’s arts venue not only in Central Scotland but anywhere in the country.
The Tolbooth
Stirling’s place for music and the arts, The Tolbooth is open daily from 9am and is FREE to walk around. This historic building features a viewing platform on the top level with breath-taking views of the surrounding area and a lift allowing easy access to all levels.
Stirling Castle
Stirling Castle is considered by many to be the grandest of all Scotland's castles, and plays host to a wealth of local events throughout the year. Comprehensive and regular pipe band and highland dancing events are held on the Castle Esplanade especially in the summer season. The esplanade of Stirling Castle is also the site for the town's biggest Hogmanay celebrations.
Stirling Farmers’ Market
Stirling Farmers' Market is held on the second Saturday of each month from 9 am to 2 pm.
Edinburgh International Festival and Military Tattoo
Each year the Edinburgh International Festival stages one of the greatest celebrations of the arts, attracting audiences from around the world to the city's thrilling atmosphere.
The Edinburgh International Festival presents classical music, theatre, opera and dance in six major theatres and concert halls and a number of smaller venues in Edinburgh over a three-week period in late summer each year.

Edinburgh Fringe Festival
The Fringe Festival tends to be more off beat than the main festival and is made up of all manner of professional and amateur performers.
As a result it tends to appeal to a younger audience. The Fringe side of the Edinburgh Festival is now regarded by the stage industry as so cutting edge and innovative that it is viewed by many as a showcase for new talent.
The Film Festival also dates back to 1947 and so is the oldest such festival in the world. It is now an established part of the film industry's calendar and features both mainstream and independent films.

Highland Gatherings
Highland Games in Scotland are renowned the world over as a unique event combining skills, culture, music and real Scottish hospitality. While the games still contain a very competitive, the spectacle of Highland dancing and pipe bands combined with the tradition and excitement of the occasion make the Games a real highlight for any visitor lucky enough to be in Scotland at the right time.
The original of the Games are like most traditions lost in the mists of time - however the popularity of the Games is as strong as ever especially in the USA where there are many more Highland Games held than in Scotland!!
A typical Highland Games will include pipe band competitions, highland dancing and traditional feats of strength such as tossing the caber, throwing the hammer, the shot putt and a tug-of-war.
